25 Miles!

Today was the Summer Sizzler Metric Century Ride in New Hope, AL. absolutely beautiful area. There were plenty of acreages on sale along the ride which allowed me to dream about living out in the county! I chose to ride 25 miles but I had amazing friends who rode 45 and 75 miles.

Who was happy they took a rest day yesterday? THIS GIRL!

While I shorted myself a work out day. I don't know that I would have been able to do today's bike ride with the vigor I had. Cause I got tired! I imagine 45 miles would have done me in. At least I know when I wake up tomorrow, I can move.

The first 12 miles made it all seem possible. The last 1/2 of the ride gave new meaning to rolling hills.

The above picture is of us starting out. It's proof that I start off like a drunk beginner... notice the area I've cleared around me.

Proof I showed up.

I did have a good time. Now that it's over and I took a nap, I'm happy I did it. I questioned myself a few times mainly on the last big hill as a walked my bike. However, I really do enjoy riding my bike out in the country. I love the sites, sound of the wind and the odd smells. Looking at the road kill was kind of fun too!

I was unsure if I would know anyone (and if anyone would acknowledge me) but it turned out fantastic. Familiar faces passed me and at the rest stop I had a great conversation with a few people. Overall, it was a great experience!

added: I forgot to mention that my triceps HURT!  It hurt to lift my arms/hands to push my glasses up on my face. When you don't have a strong core, riding a road bike turns into one LONG push up. I finally admitted it was hurty and applied some Icy Hot. I'm hoping that helps it enough that I can give it a good stretch here in a little and work that all out. The the very least, Icy Hot is a nice distraction from the pain.
