First things first, I have to start prepping my morning exercise needs at night when I'm thinking straight, because I keep leaving things... important things.... like socks. Yes.. I wore my flipflops thinking I had socks and shoes in the car- but I just had shoes. So I start running in my new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13. Now I don't know what the name really means (I'm sure it puts it into a category of shoes) but I LOVED them. After running 4 miles in my old trashed Mizunos, these were so comfy. It wasn't my feet hurting but my thighs from the run Saturday. We were off and I felt alright. I was slow, breathin' like a hoover as the others carried on a casual conversation - no winded at all- but I was doing it. And then we started a slow incline and I lost all faith. I started run walking and it just didn't stop after that. SUCH a mental game! I couldn't keep running! Once we got to the neighborhood I lost my mind. I just couldn't keep it together - the body begging to walk instead of run was strong. AND I listened. Once we got out of the neighborhood and on open ground I could run again... UNTIL the blister popped. Yes.. not wearing socks was a bad idea. 5.89 miles later and my heel HURT. so off the shoes came and I walked the last 1/4 mile.
I'm super proud though. I managed to run walk 5.89 miles in 1 hour 26 minutes. Not a great time, but I'm not complaining. I did it!
I had a nap (needless to say), Icy Hot my legs (more Icy than Hot) and felt so much better. The kids started School Monday Morning so we had our cuddle time too!
